River Stroll Sweater

I love to use color in my work, so the opportunity to design with mYak’s wonderful range, in both their Baby Yak and Tibetan Cashmere yarns, immediately set me to dreaming of yokes.
One afternoon in late spring I decided to head up Hudson River Esplanade, the path that takes me from my neighborhood to mYak’s showroom, for a visit. When you arrive at mYak, Paola is there to greet you, often offering tea. I accepted her offer, but with all of that gorgeous yarn, and the rainbow of colors to distract me, my attention very quickly turned to the task at hand, selecting colors for the yoke.
We pulled skein after skein from the shelves—“Ooh, look at this combo!
“Wow, that’s gorgeous, but this one is, too!” After making a mess of the normally well-organized space, I settled on a pile of lush hues, including a deep burgundy, a pretty pink, two shades of orange, and a vivid yellow. After tidying up and finishing my tea, I strolled back down the river to swatch.
In the end, I settled on four colors, mixing mYak’s Baby Yak Medium and Tibetan Cashmere Medium. These yarns interchange beautifully, so the options are plentiful. I hope you have as much fun selecting colors for your yoke as Paola and I had choosing the colors for the sample.
