Intarsia

During this workshop I will teach you the Intarsia technique.
At first it may seem like a complicated technique, but once you have learned some tricks to manage the all the colours you need for the project, working intarsia is easy and very useful. In fact, the intarsia technique is very functional compared to the more widespread technique of stranded knitted. The latter, in fact, requires us to manage floats on the back of our work while the intarsia completely avoids floats allowing us to create what we want on a stockinette stitch!

During this workshop I will teach you to read a chart, to immediately decipher the degree of difficulty of the intarsia, to manage the colours and to maintain a perfect tension whether you work English style or continental style.
We will work together on a swatch that I will design specifically for this workshop I will demonstrate each steps of this technique to understand how to perform the colour change obtaining a perfect a regular knitted fabric.

There will be time for questions, suggestions, advice and fun so this is the perfect chance for you to learn something new (or to perfect a techinque you already know!) in a super cool stimulant environment.

Embroidery on Wool

This workshop winks at spring! It is the perfect project to leave the winter behind and get closer to summer in a breathtaking Italian setting. Embroidery is something special because at first glance it seems extremely complex, but if studied carefully it is nothing more than the result of a pinch of patience and a lot of small and simple juxtaposed stitches. Studying the magnificent color range of mYak yarns, I designed this vest and embroidered a floral pattern that develops from the bottom of the vest and goes up to touch the yoke.I’ve designed it using the basic stitches of embroidery to allow everyone to become familiar with this technique and to understand each stitch well.
It is an embroidery made using wool, on wool, so it is a particular project. The embroidery stitches themselves are stitches designed to work optimally on wool and it will therefore be interesting to study their arrangement and construction together. In fact, during the workshop we will work on a small pattern I’ve designed especially for the occasion that includes all the stitches that you will find later on the final project. I will explain as much as possible about embroidery in general – because an overview of the technique can only be good! – we will see together how to use the water-soluble stabilizer, how to choose a design to embroider, how to start embroidering, what materials to use and how to choose them. I will demonstrated each stitch explaining carefully all the steps and tricks you need to know to obtain a great result.

It will be a unique opportunity to learn the technique of embroidery on wool, learn new stitches and discover a new way to embellish your sweaters!
