This Kora is meant to be our anthem of joy, and the color we created for this Club,
Magnolia, inspired by grace and femininity, is the best expression of it.
Magnolia, with its soft, soothing hue, invites us to embrace the simple yet profound moments that bring warmth and light into our lives.
Joy is the gateway to happiness; it arrives suddenly and surprises us: a phrase, a song, a small everyday event, a message, a child’s laughter… so many things can give us moments of joy. As we knit, with each stitch, we weave in those tiny, joyful surprises that make life vibrant and full.
Even those who are facing challenges can experience an explosion of joy. In the midst of difficulty, joy can be that unexpected ray of sunshine that warms our hearts and lets us savor a moment of life. Like a magnolia bloom in spring, joy bursts forth, even in the most unexpected places.
For Buddhists, joy, or Mudita, is one of the four sublime states of mind, along with metta (loving-kindness), karuna (compassion), and upekkha (equanimity). It is the joy felt when seeing the happiness and success of others, without envy or jealousy, but with sincere appreciation. This resonates with the spirit of our Kora Club—where each creation, each shared story, and each connection we make is celebrated, not just for our own fulfillment but for the joy it brings to others.
In our fast-paced, often competitive world, this might seem like a distant dream—or maybe not. Perhaps it’s a direction worth striving towards, one stitch at a time, with belief, intention, and a heart open to joy.
So, as you pick up your needles and immerse yourself in the rhythm of creation, remember: you’re not just knitting a piece of fabric, but weaving moments of joy into the tapestry of life.
