The Asti Spumante Tee is all about mixing texture and color. It’s fun and absolutely addictive and I cannot wait to see what you guys do with this pattern! It’s a loose fitting, easy pullover, the kind of sweater I find works in almost any season. Worked from the bottom up and separated into front and back at sleeves, it’s easy to modify for either length and width – and of course you can play with the stripes any way you like.

To modify body circumference, calculate your desired measurement based on gauge in pattern and choose the closest even multiple of 8 sts needed for body. Due to gauge difference between cable and rib, you will need a smaller total amount of sts for ribbed hem, in a multiple of 4 sts around body. See gauge and needle size for rib and choose a cast on amount that will result in a hem circumference close to your body circumference. You will then use the transition round after working hem to reconcile these two numbers, increasing as needed for body.

To alter depth of body, work to desired measurement before adding sleeve stitches. To alter depth of sleeve section, work to desired measurement before starting neckline shaping, noting that this will affect final circumference around arm once shoulders and underarm sections are seamed together. To modify sleeve length, cast on a different number of stitches in sleeve shaping. In order to add full repeats of pattern, you need a multiple of 8 new stitches to add full pattern repeats to each sleeve, plus 1 stitch for edge.

I placed stripes on the center section of sweater only, as I liked the balance created by working the first and last few inches of body in the cable pattern without color. You can vary your stripe placement as you like.

For my Accent Color, I used Spincycle Dream State yarn, in the Woloco colorway and planned my color sequences for muted and subtly variegated stripes. You can use any solid or variegated Accent Color you like, or add different shades to create distinct stripes if preferred. See my more detailed notes on page 4 about planning and working your stripes.

For the contrasting color you can choose to get the WOLOLO – Dream State Spincycle  yarn or you can use one of the color of our baby yak palette.

Each bundle contains the MC color in Baby Yak you need for this project but not the skein of the CC.

The pattern is sold separately.

You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry here.

NOTE: on our baby yak colors, we only dye on the natural basis we have, no bleaching or decoloring so depending on the shade of the natural fiber, each color will vary from season to season, making it darker or lighter. This is the beauty of working with natural fiber and so the shade of the sample you see photographed, not always correspond to the shade we have in stock or at your local LYS.
