Dawa is a seamless slipover with ribbing and lace patterns on the front and back. Knitted top-down and beginning with a cable panel across the shoulders on the back, the front and back are worked flat off the edges of this cable panel, then joined with sideway-knitted panels with armhole shaping. The lace weight yarn is held double for the most part of the slipover, which gives good stitch definition to the cables and ribbing. Highlighting the lightness of lace yarn, side panels are knitted in a single strand to create a slightly sheer fabric for contrast and to make the slipover a light layering piece.
Knitted in soft and light Baby Yak, this slipover is comfortable even in summer over a sleeveless top. Armholes are deep enough for layering over short or long sleeves and sweaters. You can have fun combining 2 lace weight yarns of different colours or fibre, as well as working with different colour combinations.
Dawa is a Tibetan word that means moon or month. In Tibet, it is often used as a name for children born on a Monday.
