Inspired by a garden in full bloom, Giardino features a yoke that blossoms with delicate colorwork — like petals unfurling across your needles. It’s a sweater that feels like a late summer evening in Tuscany: elegant, peaceful, and filled with subtle beauty.
Isabell knit her Giardino in Fior di Lino, using the soft neutral of Caffelatte for the body and her very own custom color, Tuscan Fields, for the yoke — a golden green that captures the sunlit charm of an Italian landscape.
But this design truly shines in every palette — wonderful test knitters like Nicola and Stanette brought it to life with their own color choices, each one completely unique and absolutely beautiful. Nicola Stauder knit hers in Mountain Mist and Denim while Stanette Militello chose Graphite and Glacier. The perfect combo? It’s all about your personal garden.
Giardino is worked seamlessly from the top down. First some short rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck and then the yoke is worked in the round with beautiful ornamental colorwork to sleeve separation. The body is then worked in rounds down to the colorwork and hem. Sleeves are worked top down to the cuffs last. No finishing required.
Notes
Body and sleeves can be lengthened or shortened by working more or less rounds before starting the ribbing. Size can be adjusted by working more or less increases or by adding stitches to/reducing the number of stitches at the underarm cast-on.
