This elegant poncho shows what is possible when you combine different sizes of bead within a project. While swatching for this design, I felt there was too much ‘bling’ using only the larger size 6 beads, which of course also contributes to the weight of the garment. I found I could address both issues by using size 6 beads to create the central star shapes and use the smaller, size 8 beads for the X-shaped motifs. Each beaded block in this design is worked individually, almost like a sample. Once joined into to a single panel, the rest of that section is worked in stockinette stitch. The softness of mYak’s Baby Camel helps make this garment a timeless layering piece.
