Asti Spumante Hat

The Asti Spumante Hat s a great way to use up some really interesting yarn. Featuring a diamond cable motif that’s lovely and subtle, and mixing the texture it with stripes in contrasting colors, this is my first of what I think will be a few experiments combining both color and cables! It’s super quick and absolutely addictive. And it gives you the opportunity to make a mixed pom with leftover yarn to top it off!
The detail in the brim design plays off the first diamond beautifully, and the crown is worked off the lines of the last ones. It’s a squishy crown, which works really well in this soft, gorgeous yarn.
The overall hat circumference can be adjusted by altering your stitch count in a multiple of 8, or you can work the overall pattern in an alternate gauge. Adjusting the ribbed brim depth or working an additional repeat of Rounds 1-8 in the Complete Cables section are the easiest ways to modify hat depth. Adding depth will affect yarn quantity needed.
I chose to add stripes to the center section of the hat only, but another fun modification would be to play with your stripes, adding them to the entire hat or working fewer of them, farther apart, to create more distinct stripes.
Thea used a variegated yarn from Spincyle but you can substitute it with an accent color in Baby Yak Medium or few scraps of different shades to create distinct stripes if preferred.
For the contrasting color you can choose to get the WOLOLO – Dream State Spincycle yarn or you can use one of the color of our baby yak palette.
Each bundle contains the MC color in Baby Yak you need for this project but not the skein of the CC.
The pattern is sold separately.
You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry here.
NOTE: on our baby yak colors, we only dye on the natural basis we have, no bleaching or decoloring so depending on the shade of the natural fiber, each color will vary from season to season, making it darker or lighter. This is the beauty of working with natural fiber and so the shade of the sample you see photographed, not always correspond to the shade we have in stock or at your local LYS.
