mYak Yarn – Dolcetto Vest by Thea Colman
INSPIRATION
It’s the year of the vest again, and I’m loving all the options a shell like this one offers.
For the retreat, I wanted more options to discuss, so I’ve created both a crew and V-neck option for knitting Dolcetto, made sure we can modify the pattern for size in a variety of ways, and think this design works equally well on either me or my husband – so there’s lots to cover in class!
Thea designed Dolcetto for the mYak Italian retreat, where she taught workshops about necklines and modifications, so that this pattern is specifically written with options!
CONSTRUCTION
Knit in a gorgeous shade of Mustard, the texture just pops on this soft and luxurious little vest. The cables I chose have an elegant lean to them, so I played with asymmetry here, and love how they all “line” up when facing the same direction. Center panels in seed stitch are a nod to a traditional aran sweater, and the ribs between each cable really allow the texture to pop.
The Dolcetto pattern comes with two separate PDFs – one for a crew neck, the other for a V neck. This vest can be worn with more or less ease or more or less length, depending on the knitter’s own style and wardrobe.

NOTES
On our baby yak colors, we only dye on the natural basis we have. No bleaching or decoloring. Each color will vary from season to season, so depending on the shade of the natural fiber, making it darker or lighter. This is the beauty of working with natural fibers. The shade of the sample you see photographed, will not always correspond to the shade we have in stock or at your local LYS.
